The
Parkview Child Development Center had its beginning in 1968, as
an outreach ministry of the Parkview Church of God. The church
wished to provide a nurturing, educational, training program to
assist the working parents in the surrounding area.
Today,
the Parkview Church of God still continues to operate and oversee
the operation of the center. The center remains subject to
the governing of the church. This service is extended to children
regardless of race, gender,
or national origin for ages two - eleven and there is no discrimination
in the admission policy, meal service or the use of the facilities.
PCDC is licensed by the Virginia Department of Social Services,
Eastern Region Office, and complies with the regulations set forth
by the Virginia Department of Health. We abide by the ratios and
standards for state license and are subject to unannounced visits
by these departments to ensure continued compliance with their regulations.
The
early childhood philosophy for the center relates to the whole student:
academically, physically, mentally, and spiritually. Our goal
is to help each student understand at his/her own level. This
is done through the daily academic, physical and spiritual training.
The A Beka curriculum is introduced at age two (2) and continues
through the Parkview Christian Academy and is taught with creative
implementation by a helpful and nurturing staff.
PCDC's
hours of operation are from 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday through
Friday except for observed Holidays. In addition to regular
child care services, we offer before and after school care programs
servicing the following elementary schools: Carver, Briarfield,
and Newsome Park. During the summer, we also offer a summer camp.
