John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (NKJV)

To be a Christian, a person must become a believer in Jesus Christ.  According to John 3:16 believing in Jesus means we will have everlasting life.  Please read the following scriptures carefully:

  • Acts 8:36-37 Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, "See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?"  (37)  Then Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." (NKJV)

  • 1 John5:1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has become a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves his children, too. (NLT)

  • Acts 16:30-31 And he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"  (31)  So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."

  • Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  (10)  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (NKJV)

So, what must we believe about Jesus?

  1. That Jesus is the Son of God.

  2. That Jesus died on the cross for my sins.

  3. That Jesus rose from the dead on the third day.

  4. That Jesus is alive today.

  5. That Jesus will live in my heart if I invite Him into my life.

Pray a prayer like this:

Lord I come to you now, Jesus I believe in you and your completed work.  I believe you are the Son of God, who died for my sins, rose again on the third day, and that you are alive today!  Come into my heart, I receive by faith.
